Crown Prince chairs follow-up meeting on tourism action plan
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein on Tuesday chaired a meeting at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to follow up on the implementation of the tourism action plan.
Crown Prince Al Hussein stressed the importance of continuing to develop tourism facilities to meet visitors’ needs.
His Royal Highness urged keeping up with the latest developments in the rapidly growing sector, noting Jordan’s progress in tourism over the past two years.
The Crown Prince was briefed by Tourism Minister Nayef Al Fayez on the action plan, which is based on the Economic Modernisation Vision and includes developing tourist sites and facilities, enhancing the tourism product, and honing skills in the sector.
The minister also spoke about the National Tourism Strategy aimed at developing the sector’s human resources, bolstering tourism promotion, and managing and conserving heritage.
He noted a rise in tourism receipts by 138 per cent of the target for the year, from an estimated JD2.4 billion to JD3.4 billion.
Tourist receipts from the start of the year and until November reached 98 per cent of the receipts recorded for the same period in 2019, which witnessed one of the best tourism seasons for Jordan.
Tourism Ministry Secretary General Emad Hijazeen, Jordan Tourism Board Managing Director Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, Department of Antiquities Director Fadi Balaawi, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain attended the meeting.
