Royal Medals

Royal medals reflect Jordan’s keenness to honour the men, women, civilians and servicemen of the homeland for their achievements and sacrifices during their service or after they conclude their service. They are also bestowed on prominent international figures to honour them.

These medals symbolise the Kingdom’s culture and history, expressing the pride of the leadership and the people in the honourees who wear them proudly in recognition of their services for the homeland and for humanity.

They are divided into civilian and military medals and are granted by Royal Decree.

Al Hussein bin Ali Medal

Al Hussein bin Ali Medal is awarded to kings, princes and heads of states. It is the highest civilian honour in the Kingdom.

Order of Al Nahda, the High Order of Al Nahda, Al Kawkab Order and the Independence Order

The Order of Al Nahda is granted to kings, princes and heads of states. It may also be awarded to prime ministers.

The High Order of Al Nahda, Al Kawkab Order and the Independence Order are granted to civilians and servicemen, Arabs and foreigners who have done great national, pan-Arab or international services.

Each of these medals have five classes.

The Hashemite Star

The Hashemite Star is awarded to civilians and military servicemen who have served the country for a long time with the utmost dedication. It is also granted to whomsoever the King chooses.

Order of Al Hussein for Distinguished Contributions

Order of Al Hussein for Distinguished Contributions is awarded in appreciation of those who have rendered great services to the homeland. It includes two classes.

Order of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein for Excellence

The Order of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein for Excellence is granted in appreciation of those who have rendered great services to the homeland. It includes five classes.

Order of Valour and Rescue

The Order of Valour and Rescue is granted to those who have taken heroic actions outside their line of work that have protected and saved the lives of citizens. It is also awarded to those who have shown courage and valour in defending the homeland and its interests and protecting its property. This order includes three classes.

Medal of Honour

The Medal of Honour is awarded for those who have offered noble humanitarian services within their line of duty or outside their line of work.

The Order of Sacrifice

The Order of Sacrifice is awarded to military servicemen who show courage and valour, especially in battle or in humanitarian and rescue services. It is the highest military honour in the Kingdom. It includes three classes.

Order of Military Merit

A military medal awarded according to military rank. It includes five classes.

Medal of Peacekeeping Operations for Military Servicemen

The Medal of Peacekeeping Operations is granted to military servicemen who have participated in international peacekeeping operations.
