His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II visited the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Thursday, where he met with its director, Maj. Gen. Ahmad Sarhan Faqih, and was briefed on plans to develop and modernize the police and security apparatus.

During the visit, Crown Prince Al Hussein listened to a briefing by Faqih on the PSD’s programs to enhance security services offered to citizens and the Kingdom’s guests, as well as to fight crime.

His Royal Highness expressed pride in the PSD’s crime fighting efforts, and its work to protect citizens, based on respecting human rights and transparently upholding the rule of law.

The Crown Prince praised the PSD’s initiative to engage youth in helping police officers perform their duties, calling for bolstering youth outreach and involving young people in efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs and how to combat them.

Also during the visit, His Royal Highness toured the Command and Control Center, where he was shown the major security and traffic monitoring systems used, as well as how emergency calls are dealt with.

The Crown Prince was also shown the 114 emergency video call system, dedicated to receiving calls from the deaf community, which is the first of its kind in the region.

At the Command and Control Center, His Royal Highness also observed a number of police exercises conducted separately by the Anti-Narcotics Department, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection (Rangers), and Preventive Security.

The drills utilized cutting-edge technology and were monitored via camera drones.

The Crown Prince commended the advanced level of the PSD personnel, and their ability to undertake their duties efficiently and professionally while using the latest technology integrated into police work.

The Director of the Office of the Crown Prince accompanied His Royal Highness on the visit.
