His Majesty King Abdullah concluded official visit to Japan where he met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a number of parliamentary leaders and other officials.

King Abdullah’s talks with the Japanese prime minister focused on strategic ties between the two countries, means to maintain coordination and consultations between them, ways of forging closer political, economic and security ties, as well as the current regional and international developments.

The discussions also dealt with the economic cooperation programme with Japan, cooperation in the security fields, as well as means to fight terrorism.

On the side-lines of the talks, the King and the Japanese prime minister attended the signing of an agreement under which Japan offered Jordan an additional USD10 million grant to help the Kingdom boost its border security.

His Majesty also met with President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinichi Kitaoka and discussed ways to enhance ties between Jordan and Japan.

The meeting touched on means to fund priority developmental projects in Jordan through the agency's grants and technical support.

On the side-lines of the visit, the Jordanian-Japanese Business Forum was also held to boost economic ties between the two countries.

The forum was organised by the Jordan Investment Commission, in cooperation with the Japanese-Jordanian Investment Initiative.

The event aimed to attract more Japanese companies to invest in the Kingdom in particular and the Middle East and North Africa in general, through Jordan. It was also held to serve as a networking platform between Jordanian SMEs and their Japanese counterparts.
