King meets business leaders, executives of major companies in Netherlands

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with a group of business leaders and CEOs of major companies in the Netherlands, in the presence of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

Discussions covered Jordan’s economic advantages and the incentives it offers to investors.

Speaking at the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers, King Abdullah affirmed the importance of expanding and diversifying bilateral trade, noting that the agreements signed by Jordan and the Netherlands are a reflection of the commitment of both sides to advancing economic ties.

His Majesty highlighted measures taken by Jordan to enhance the business environment and attract investments, noting that Jordan looks to exchange expertise and benefit from the Netherlands’ remarkable achievements in agriculture, ICT, water, and energy.

Jordan is open to business, the King added, and sees the private sector as a strategic partner in development, economic growth, and job creation.

For her part, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sigrid Kaag said the Dutch government and the private sector will prepare an action plan and roadmap, in partnership with their Jordanian counterparts, to advance economic cooperation and identify investment opportunities in key sectors to create jobs and achieve sustainable development in Jordan.

The Dutch business leaders in attendance expressed their desire to invest in Jordan and benefit from its strategic location.

Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, Trade Minister Yarub Qudah, and Jordan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Ahmad Al Mufleh attended the meeting.

On the sidelines of the event, Jordanian businesspeople met with their Dutch counterparts and examined opportunities to expand cooperation in the agricultural and textile sectors.
