His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday reiterated that a peace process leading to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state is a prerequisite for regional peace and stability.

During separate meetings with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and Portuguese Foreign Minister Luis Amado, King Abdullah underscored the EU's significant role in supporting efforts to realise peace in the Middle East.

The King also discussed with the European officials means to develop cooperation at the bilateral level and between Jordan and the EU.

He also briefed the European diplomats on the implementation of Jordan's reform plans, noting that the Kingdom was one of the first countries in the region to draft a roadmap for reform and full engagement of citizens in the decision-making process.

The King also underlined the need for economic and political reforms and an active role of political parties in the entire region's pursuit of a better future.

The European ministers underlined their countries' commitment, along with that of the EU, to supporting Jordan's efforts to achieve peace, stability and security in the Middle East, indicating that European countries are aware of the regional economic and political challenges and the need to develop the Arab-European strategic cooperation.

Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh and the King's Media Adviser Amjad Adaileh attended the meeting.
