King meets EU foreign policy chief
His Majesty King Abdullah met on Tuesday with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, and her accompanying delegation.
King Abdullah and the top European diplomat discussed relations between Jordan and the EU, and current regional developments.
His Majesty commended the advanced strategic relations between Jordan and the bloc, thanking the EU for its support to the Kingdom.
The King expressed hope that the international conference on Syria slated to be held in Brussels in April will lay out a vision for rebuilding Syria once a political solution is reached, and follow up on the outcomes of last year's London donor conference to provide aid to countries hosting Syrian refugees, including Jordan.
Talks underlined the importance of reviving the Middle East peace process and relaunching serious and effective negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, based on the two-state solution as the only way to end the conflict.
His Majesty and Mogherini also discussed the developments in Iraq, as well as regional and international efforts in the war on terrorism.
Mogherini said the EU is committed to supporting Jordan, noting the Kingdom's key role in promoting regional security and stability.
