His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev and discussed means to boost economic and commercial cooperation.

The two sides stressed the importance of exchanging visits to explore investment opportunities, and discussed cooperation in agriculture, renewable energy, ICT, defence industries, capacity building, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as benefiting from Kazakhstan’s experience in building railroads.

During a meeting with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan’s Parliament, discussions covered opportunities for legislative cooperation.

The two sides also stressed the importance of the talks in Astana in paving the way to reaching a political solution in Syria through the Geneva process.

Moreover, discussions covered developments in the Middles East, and regional and international efforts to fight terrorism within a holistic strategy.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Adviser to His Majesty and National Policies Council Rapporteur Abdullah Wreikat attended the meetings.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Majesty visited the Astana Expo 2017 Exhibition Complex, touring the Kazakh pavilion “Nur Alem”, which showcased exhibits related to future energy resources.

The King was briefed on Kazakhstan’s renewable energy projects, implemented by the public and private sectors, and on future plans for Astana.

The Astana Expo 2017 was held between 10 June and 10 September, with the participation of 115 countries, including Jordan, and 22 international organisations.

The Jordanian pavilion at the expo received 580,000 visitors, and highlighted investment opportunities in the Kingdom, particularly in the energy sector.
