His Majesty King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed on Tuesday that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve just and lasting peace in the region.

The two leaders stressed the need to support the Palestinian people in pursuit of their just and legitimate rights to an independent state on the 4 June 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The two leaders also underlined the importance of the international community shouldering its responsibility towards UNRWA to sustain its relief, education, and health services.

At the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the two sides affirmed keenness to maintain coordination and consultation on issues of mutual concern, and in the service of Arab interests.

Discussions also focused on the deep-rooted, brotherly ties between Jordan and Egypt, and the importance of expanding joint cooperation in all fields.

The meeting covered developments in the Syrian crisis and efforts to reach a political solution, as well as the fight against terrorism within a holistic approach.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas attended the meeting.
