King, in call with Egypt president, stresses need to work together to prevent further escalation between Palestinians, Israelis
His Majesty King Abdullah, in a phone call with Egypt President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday, reiterated the need to work together to prevent further escalation of the situation between the Palestinians and the Israelis, which would have dangerous repercussions on all efforts towards comprehensive calm, and on regional security and stability.
King Abdullah called for stepping up joint efforts to de-escalate the dangerous situation in Gaza and its surroundings, stressing the need to encourage both sides to commit to self-restraint, protect civilians, and respect international humanitarian law.
His Majesty said Jordan is communicating with regional and international partners to discuss urgent international action to ensure de-escalation and protect the region from the impact of a new cycle of violence.
The two sides agreed to maintain coordination on various issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.
