King chairs meeting at JAF headquarters, reiterates Jordan’s firm rejection of attempts to displace Palestinians
His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said on Tuesday that Jordan firmly rejects any scenario that seeks to displace the Palestinians, whether in Gaza or the West Bank.
Chairing a meeting at JAF headquarters attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Abdullah reiterated that the displacement of the Palestinians is a red line, referring to his clear statement on this issue earlier in Berlin.
At the meeting attended by the prime minister, heads of the Senate and the House of Representatives, the interior minister, JAF chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, and directors of the intelligence department and public security directorate, His Majesty said Jordan will protect its borders and will put all efforts to support the steadfastness of Palestinians in their land, adding “we will not allow new waves of refugees”.
The King commended Gazans’ steadfastness on their land, highlighting the importance of delivering aid to the strip without any constraints to guarantee its sustainability, expressing Jordan’s readiness to provide all possible facilitations.
His Majesty noted that his tour in Europe aimed at calling for stopping the war on Gaza, facilitating delivery of aid, and reiterating Jordan’s unwavering position towards the Palestinian cause.
The King reaffirmed that the political solution is the only solution to the Palestinian issue, adding that the world and international powers must realise the roots of this struggle, and the danger of what is happening in Gaza, as breaking the cycle of violence is only possible through establishing comprehensive calm and returning to the political process.
